Some of you may remember playing that famous card game known as solitaire on your PCs. It used to be one of the most popular pastimes of students in the computer lab with no other games to play.

Microsoft Solitaire Collection is now officially available on iOS and Android for the first time in the game’s history. It has been available on Windows for around 25 years now but it did not exist outside of the Windows ecosystem. The game will be available for free on both iOS and Android. There were a total of 119 million players of Microsoft Solitaire Collection on Windows 8 and 10.

Includes Spider and Free Cell
Microsoft Solitaire Collection includes Spider, Free Cell, Klondike, Tripeaks and Pyramids games all in one package. Like other smartphone games it will offer daily challenges as well, which would help increase its replayability further. The game will be integrated with Xbox Live so you can sign into your Microsoft account and compare scores or play with friends. Achievements will be available as well, not sure how they’ll fit this into solitaire.

Premium Version
The game is based on a freemium model like most smartphone games with Microsoft offering a premium version if you pay $1.99. The premium version will remove the ads in the game and will include double coin rewards for the daily challenges and game boosts only available to the premium users.

While Microsoft’s Solitaire Collection may not be the only card game or even the only solitaire game on the app stores for iOS and Android, Microsoft calls their version the world’s number 1 solitaire game. Surely enough most of us played Solitaire for the first time ever on a Windows computer instead of playing with actual cards. Microsoft may be betting on the nostalgia factor for it to be successful.
