Monday March 3
Greetings to Darren: 'Liverpool must be clear favourites to finish above Arsenal now, yes we have tough games against Man United, Chelsea, City & Spurs but only the United game is away. The way we have performed at Anfield this season must mean we are looking at decent results in all those games. Third has to be the minimum they are looking at with no fixture congestion and key players in Lucas, Agger, Sakho all returning to the side. Arsenal have away trips to Spurs, Everton and Chelsea with City at home also. The curse of February has come back to haunt them. The decision to the Liverpool board to point blank refuse to accept the contractually agreed offer from Arsenal could be the bravest and best decision that the Liverpool hierarchy has made in 20 years... apart from signing King Brenny!!'

The good news is our weekend review is now available. Let me know at nick.hext@bskyb.com if you agree with what our team has to say.
11:23
Over to Liverpool fan Nick Watson in Germany: 'Another great weekend for Liverpool gaining a vital win in a difficult away fixture. I am delighted that both Rodgers and the team seem to be so adaptable and they are both improving at a rate of knots. However, whilst it is obviously great to be second at the moment, I still feel there are no grounds for complacency; it would still be a miracle if we won the league and finishing in the top four would be a great achievement. We have very difficult fixtures against United, Tottenham, Chelsea and City still to come so as Rodgers wisely says we must take each game as it comes and try to win as many as we can and then see where we finish in the league.'
11:12
Red Ken comments: 'Have to say how much I agree with Paul concerning Suarez. The lad had been a total disgrace and an embarrassment to the club. Having served his punishment he has come back a changed man. Fair play to him for turning his life around, and he is actually producing better performances now he has sorted his head out. I honestly doubted he would be able to change, but he has obviously looked at himself, and realised he had to change. It is not an easy thing to do, (especially when you are in the spotlight), but he has. I honestly believe that BR and Stevie G deserve a lot of credit, as Suarez has admitted they were instrumental in his change of attitude. It is great having such a talented player who we can now begin to be proud of having at our club. Everyone deserves the chance to turn their lives around, and hopefully he has done it!!'
10:57
Good morning to Tottenham fan Rob Lynn: 'Morning Nick, Tcers.... Well done to City although it means another EL space for sixth place so now looks like we're doomed for another year. With regard to the title push, if you look at the fixtures including the top five and Man U from now until the end of March it really is mouthwatering. There are potential twists and turns on a weekly basis and now it's a crunch time, you may start to see a squeak or two, especially from players who have never won it. I still have City to nick it (so in answer to Paul 10.15, it's clearly not better to have two points more having played two games more if you average over two points per game) but the picture will be far clearer in four weeks' time. Finally, an interesting stat, since 16:58 yesterday, no player has scored more PL goals than Soldado.'
10:39
Charlie is not a happy Newcastle fan following the Alan Pardew headbutt: 'A Newcastle fan here and all I can say is get rid of him. How can he discipline the players when he has done something which would get them banned for three matches. I think we all know he won't be at another game this season. Utterly pathetic.'
10:32
Armin Veh is to step down as coach of Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer.
10:21
Paul Cressy writes: 'Well Liverpool now sit second in the Premiership. Yes, I know City have two games in hand but it is surely nice to have the points on the board, is it not? Totally professional team performance at Southampton, again not playing well, but toughing it out and once again scoring goals for fun. The praise for Suarez has run out, nothing else to say about him what has not already been said. Head and shoulders above any other player this league has to offer. The absolute joy on his face is something to behold when he scores and when we have won a game he is happy and that reflects in his performances. We at Liverpool are very lucky to have him and the upmost respect to the board for keeping him when I for one thought he really should of gone. He is helping bring the dream a little closer each week.....'
10:15
Howard writes: 'Just want to say congrats to the team I've supported looong time. City weren't at their best I must admit & Sunderland were very quick in the tackle (got away with a couple, & Zabaleta got penalised for some good challenges) & played well to their strengths. Two glorious goals from two quality players changed the game.'
10:07
Good morning to Noel: 'Well done to City. A trophy is a trophy and fair play to them for celebrating accordingly. Also well done to Sunderland for making it a very competitive game and they were only beaten by two pieces of individual brilliance. In the league another good win for Liverpool and they look nailed on for the top four now, also a good win for Chelsea as all away games especially local derbies can be banana skins especially this season. They have so many good forward thinking midfielders that if some are not on their game another will get them out of trouble. Arsenal as usual capitulated at Stoke, they used to blame Tony Pulis' bullyboy methods, I wonder what the excuse will be now? How they laughed when Spurs pointed the finger at Charlie Adam but now they know. Another customary but inexcusable flat performance from Spurs after a Europa game but at least the three points were collected this time and a goal from Soldado can only auger well. I can't help thinking that the three dropped points at Norwich will be the only difference between Spurs and our neighbours come May. Now on to the big talking point Pardew; what an absolutely horrid individual. Newcastle had the perfect opportunity to get rid and bottled it. I'm sure they were within their rights to sack him without a pay-off too. Nearly as bad as the headbutt were his interviews after. 'I'll be sitting down from now on'. Talk about self-preservation. Too right he'll be sitting down but hopefully it won't be in a dug-out for at least 12 months if the FA act.'

Former Manchester United defender Henning Berg believes Nemanja Vidic is not leaving Old Trafford to join Inter Milan for "footballing reasons".
He could still play on for United. Like Stam, I believe he's leaving when there's more years left in him. But I don't think this is a decision made by the club, or [David Moyes] the manager; this is purely down to Vidic wanting to do something different.

Re: Football Transfer Centre
Monday March 10
Ken takes us back to (a fully-clothed) Mourinho: 'Don't get me wrong, Noel, I don't doubt the man's ability as a manager. He does play effective, (if boring), football, and he wins things. The thing is, I think he has been reading too much of his own publicity, and believing it. He used to be humorous because he was being natural, but now it is all contrived. He believes everything he says is clever, and so does the media. Somebody simply needs to say, 'You are a great manager, but stop being a pratt!'.' People say that to me all the time. Apart from the 'great manager' bit.
14:47
Rob: 'Noel, put it this way, do you think your heart would be able to cope with Hull winning in the last minute against Arsenal knowing that you stand to win a nice bundle with that being secondary to watching the enemy choke? My advice would be to lay Hull for as much as you're willing to give away should they win it. '
14:30
Spanish relegation battlers Getafe have sacked their coach and appointed his replacement with the sort of efficiency so common on the continent and so rarely seen in Britain, where we much prefer four weeks of speculation, rumour, double-speak and at least seven unsuccessful odds-on favourites before getting round to appointing a new chap.
14:15
And more from Noel: 'I put a tenner each on Andy Schooler's FA cup tips Hull 100/1 and Southampton 25/1. At this point I'm wondering should I have something on Sheff Utd to win the semi and also Arsenal to win the comp? Or should I sit tight? Any ideas?' As luck would have it, Andy's just walked in the office. His advice is to cover your stake and at least ensure you don't make a loss. My advice would be to wait until Hill win, collect your winnings, go to the roulette and put the lot on black. My second piece of advice would be to ignore my first piece of advice.
14:09
Noel Madden: 'So an 'absolute fool' sits 7 points clear at the top of the league. What does that make the rest? Geniuses?'
13:48
Brad: 'Did anyone else think Mourinho shaking hands with the Spurs staff before the final whistle on Saturday was just outright ridiculous? Attention seeking and patronising in equal measure. Ken, I agree, the man is now a parody of himself. Absolute fool.'
13:38
Ken Livermore conjures up the image of a nakedJose Mourinho: 'Is it just me, or are others also finding the ramblings of the 'chosen one' just getting plain boring? The whole thing seems to have become a self parody to me. The assembled media sit around like serfs around their monarch, waiting for the next humorous words of wisdom. The thing is, if someone else was saying what Jose does nobody would give it the time of day. When he gave his 'little horses' speech does no one else think what a lot of tommy rot ? He then followed up with the stupid attack on Arsene Wenger. The whole thing is becoming contrived, with method meaning more than content. It's all a bit like the King's new clothes, and somebody needs to shout out, the King is in the altogether!' The brilliant thing with Jose now is that literally anything that comes out of his mouth is automatically 'mind games'. He could read out the phone book and stillhave hacks scrabbling around for the hidden meaning.
13:27
Brad: 'I think Arteta would finish last in that race.'
13:25
A brilliant/terrible idea from Philip Williams: 'Having watched City being City again yesterday, I found myself wondering about the result of a sprint race between Martin Demichelis, Per Mertesacker, Michael Dawson and Richard Dunne, where at the start of the race they had to stand on the half-way line, turn, and run back to their own penalty area. Would anyone in the crowd still be awake to see who won?'
13:22
Martin Nugent: 'Much as I understand Paul Cressy getting carried away, I don't think the PL is anywhere near a 2-horse race between us (the mighty Reds) and Chelsea. It'll be interesting to see how Man C react - they'll probably just have the league to concentrate on in a couple of days. And will Arsenal allow their cup run and now clear favourite status to take their eye off the league? Liverpool just have to do what has been preached for decades: take one game at a time. It's Man U away next and then we'll see. Dreaming is great, but we'll have more success being realistic.' I agree with the general tone of this, and your broad point is sound, but it doesn't do to conflate a club's staff and fans. The club may have more success if the staff take each proverbial game as it comes, but the fans can dream themselves giddy. It's part of the fun.
13:10
Toni Kroos remains open to using the idea of a move to the Premier League as a means to secure a better deal at Bayern Munich.
12:25
Rich: 'Brad/Rob, I have to disagree in varying amounts. Gibbs is simply laughable and assume just out to spice up the TC. Rob, judging on how unlikely England are to ever score a goal (thinking back to all the 0-0s in tournaments etched in my memory) I think we simply have to go with Baines. And Rooney has to be told that this isn't Man U where he can do whatever he likes. A genuine threat from free-kicks is a very valuable weapon in int'l tournaments and a regular penalty taker who rarely misses (must check if ever missed) is obviously worth his weight in platinum when it comes to England. Forget the superlative that Brendan used when talking about Gerrard taking that late penalty at Fulham but he sure as anything misses when it matters for England!'
