That's it for today on the Sky Sports Transfer Clockwatch. Join us again from 9am on Sunday morning for a round-up of all the transfer lines and any news or deals.
19:00

Plymouth Argyle have announced that they have agreed a deal to allow Guy Branston to leave Home Park. The 35-year-old centre-back is suffering from an ankle injury which has effectively ended his season and after manager John Sheridan told the former Rotherham man that he will not be offered another deal, Branston decided to depart the League Two side.

18:21

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet was delighted with Liverpool loan striker Fabio Borini's display against Crystal Palace - and admits he would love to keep him at the club.
He is going to be important, if we stay in the Premier League I would keep him, as he is very welcome here and the fans like him. Fabio is the perfect character to have in a group of players, professional, he cares, he gives everything - the perfect professional.

14:28

Napoli director Riccardo Bigon has confirmed his side's interest in Porto duo Jackson Martinez and Juan Iturbe. The Italian club were linked with a move for Martinez last summer but now it appears that they will make a move for both players at the end of this campaign.

12:32

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has revealed that he will not offer any contract extensions until they avoid relegation. Doubts have surrounded the futures of Matt Taylor, George McCartney, Joe Cole, Jack Collison and Jussi Jaaskelainen, but Allardyce believes it is important to focus on Premier League survival in the short-term
11:56

Everton boss Roberto Martinez has insisted his players will not be sold even if the Toffees miss out on European qualification. With hopes of a top-four finish is fading, Martinez is bracing himself for interest in the likes of Ross Barkley and Leighton Baines once again, but is adamant his players are not for sale.

11:01

Nemanja Matic has revealed that he did not hesitate to take the chance to return to Chelsea and believes he is now ready to succeed in the Premier League. The Serbian midfielder re-signed for the Blues in January in a big-money deal from Benfica.
10:12

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has warned Manchester United counterpart David Moyes that he faces a struggle to attract world-class players unless they are competing in the UEFA Champions League, saying they could face a period in the football wilderness if they fail to qualify for Europe's elite club competition this season.
When you're not in it, even though this club is a worldwide, monumental club, we found it difficult because the best players want to play in the best competitions.

First up, a story from last night that featured a number of twists and turns, but eventualy resulted in West Bromwich Albion confirming that they had sacked Nicolas Anelka for 'gross misconduct'. The striker - currently banned for his 'quenelle' goal celebration - announced via Twitter on Friday he was terminating his contract with immediate effect after refusing to accept West Brom's conditions for returning to the squad, and the club later responded.
The club considers the conduct of Nicolas Anelka on December 28, coupled with his purported termination on Social Media this evening, to be gross misconduct.

Rich Lynn: 'Brad, if Man U win the CL the world will spontaneously combust so next year's European competitions irrelevant.'
16:55

John Egan writes: 'I hope Tom is right, but I can't agree that Liverpool will not drop any points before the end of the season. Also I can't see arsenal only getting 1/3 of the points available to them. I do expect it to be close and hopefully the most open title race with all 4 able to win it right to the finish.'
16:18

Brad Smith: 'With Spurs, United and Everton all desperately trying to avoid Europa next season, what happens if United win the CL but finish 7th? Do we lose our 6th spot as 4th place team go into Europa? Also, next season's EL winners go into the CL. Not sure many teams will actually avoid it. Tom, Lol Arsenal 71 points?'
15:50

Tom feels the Merseyside clubs will be finishing strongly. Very strongly. He writes: 'Hi, as an impartial onlooker, having watched a lot of the games! I believe this will be the final placings: Liverpool 89 points, Man City 88, Chelsea 87, Everton 74, Arsenal 71, Spurs 66, Southampton and Man U 61.Do the math.'
15:40
A quick switch sees Matt Brocklebank steering the TC ship for the next couple of hours so emails to matthew.brocklebank@bskyb.com should you wish to contribute.

Brad Smith: 'Haha if that's a red card for Gibbs then we should all pack up and go home. How ridiculous.'
15:05

Rich Lynn: 'Afternoon Tickers ... I'll leave the Old Trafford game to the Reds as I only saw bits and pieces of it. What I did see though left me amazed there was only red card in the game. And even that was due to cheating. Another Clattenburg master-class. Another North vs South derby afterwards though and another fine defensive effort from Arsene's men, again ending up with a 7-2-1 formation for the last 15 minutes, clinging on like they did at the Emirates. Very frustrating to absolutely dominate a game and not get the ball in the old onion bag. Lord knows how it didn't but one of those days again. Another tactical horror show from our inept manager with Chadli winning the weekly raffle to play in the 10 role and Eriksen still stuck out wide. Also a great ploy to swing in around 40 crosses to Arsenal's 2. Just what a 6'7' sloth hates that. Balls being thrown in the box to a lone striker. But at least they showed a bit more passion that in the week. Re Gibbs' tackle. The impact on the opponent was exactly the same as the Ramires 'tackle'. 6 studs over the ball into the opponent's leg just above the ankle. While Ramires's one was more obvious to the naked eye in normal speed (to the 4th official if not ref) because of the lunge, both 'tackles' were shocking and red card offences. Sagna's was more of an 'orange'. Not a block tackle as someone mentioned on here earlier as he didn't get any of the ball. Both of those were far worse than the one Barndoor got sent off for last season, again when bossing the game. But not too disheartened, as long as Man U can get their act together and get above us by the end of the season. While I like going to watch the Europa, the constant Sunday games are a logistic nightmare, meaning my lad only gets to a handful of games. So come on Timmy, keep up the good work and get us down to 7th!!!!! 7th place does not get Europa, no matter what Arsenal do.' Yeah, I thought they'd changed the rule about letting FA Cup losers in, but seems not. My mistake.
14:45
Jan Vertonghen says the top four is beyond Spurs this season. He might be on to something there.
13:50
Inevitable Story of the Day.
13:20

Howard Lewis: 'Hello to all. I know most people that post on here are Liverpool, Arsenal & Spurs supporters. So a word from a Man City fan. I've said this earlier in the season but I'll say it again. The best three footballing sides I've seen this season are Liverpool, Arsenal & Man City & I think the title will be won by one of them. City winning with ten men for virtually the whole game, after being down & out (one would think after the FA Cup & Europe disappointments) showed a lot of spirit & camaraderie. Don't know what to say about David Silva only I wish he would shoot a bit more.'
13:07

John Parry: 'Robert, I doubt youve seen a replay, as Suarez was bang onside when Sturridge scuffed his shot! As for the other 3 better ? 2 possibly, Arsenal on equal par, but without Wilshere, Ozil and Ramsay can you really call them a better side? Really? The hunt is on for the bonus of above 4th ( still the aim ) as for MANWHO - its a slippery slope - mind the gap!'

Monday March 24

Manchester City are simply a better side than neighbours United and should be backed on Tuesday, says our tipster Andy Schooler.
16:55

Rob Lynn: 'Gordon (15:35), you are obviously under the assumption Suarez will stay? That's very brave. You need to remember that playing in Europe means you can't play your best available XI every week so in order to stay near the top next year, you need some strength in depth and quite a lot of it.'
15:50

Gordon: 'I can't see Brendan Rodgers having any interest whatsoever in Benteke as he is completely the wrong type of player to fit in the team being built. Obviously, Borini will be back next season, fitter and a better player after his season at Sunderland and the only other forward player currently playing in the PL who in my opinion would fit in the team well would be Lallana of Southampton - I assume that Aguero would not be either affordable or available. My guess would be that Liverpool would look to buy a left back, an additional striker and strengthen the midfield options.'
15:35

Martin: 'Hi Matt, no way was Suarez going to give Sterling a simple tap in - even though his name begins with S. On that note Liverpool should definitely recall Suso next year and go for Shaw. No chance of us paying 30 million for a player!' The likely Champions League money should leave Liverpool in a strong position come the transfer window and it will be interesting to see who they target. With far more football to be played next season I expect a striker or two to be brought in at Anfield. Someone like Benteke could be on the radar if they're willing to shell out. Having said that, clubs are going to be held to ransom over World Cup players this summer.
15:00

Simon Wan has emailed: 'Just want to share a fun fact to tag on with Rob Carter's Post (13:50). There is only 1 team in history that won the league while allowing more than 1 goal per game on average. That's Manchester United last year. If you look at Man City right now, it's just a little less than 1 goal allow per game. Maybe we are seeing a shift in the games that high power offense can win the title? Although Liverpool's policy of 'we will score double what we let in' is very dangerous, but no one can deny they are superb to watch.'
14:30

Martin Nugent: 'Dear Matt, as a football (Liverpool) fan in Germany, I was disappointed that El Clasico was not available here. Must have been a cracker. As for Liverpool, listening to the live commentary on the website meant a very nerve-wracking first half. What really impresses me is that the players are enjoying their football and triumphs and coming out after a game and saying how they are concentrating on the next game only. We can only dream and keep our minds on the next game and not the last game of the season. I don't think that the next week will change much in the race for the title. City will still be favourites and still have games in hand. Mourinho will still be playing down Chelsea's chances, but nobody believes him anyway. They played some very good football on Saturday - not grinding out a 1-0, which they are also capable of. My hope (dream) ist that Suarez and Sturridge just carry on. Make us dream...' Thanks Martin. Suarez looks pretty focused still. He wasn't going to square his hat-trick opportunity for Sterling to tap into the open net was he?
14:08

Rob Carter: 'On the well established belief that defences win titles, looking at the amount of goals Liverpool have let in (even more than United), it's between Chelsea and Citeh. But whoever wins, it will only be because the other teams let them - just like last year eh '
13:50

Good afternoon to Gordon Mays, who writes: 'An interesting post from Ken (09.20) where he is all over both Liverpool and Brendan Rodgers like a rash heaping praise on the decision to loan out players like Wisdom & Suso when earlier in the season he was complaining about these situations as he was about the decision not to sell Suarez on the cheap last summer. In his second post at 11.40 he talks about the final match of the season at Newcastle being a banana skin - Ken that fixture is at home as any real Liverpool supporter would know.I would agree with Brad (11.15) that it appeared that neither the referee or linesman saw Oxlaide-Chamberlain handle the ball and I suspect the fourth official made the decision but I do not know whether he saw it live or from TV pictures. I'm not sure whether that the fact the ball was going wide makes any difference to the red card decision as the intent was there for all to see. The referee was however correct in ignoring Oxlaide- Chamberlain's plea that it was him and not Gibbs who should go - imagine playing Barcelona and Messi handles the ball and one of the others say it was them and Messi stays on the pitch! Brad also seems of the opinion that Liverpool have not suffered with injuries this season but to my recollection Johnson, Enrique, Agger, Sakho, Lucas, Gerrard, Allen, Coutinho & Sturridge have all been out injured at some stage of the campaign but instead of moaning and using it as an excuse Liverpool have just got on with the job in hand.'
12:50

Brad: 'I'm not making excuses, but it's also a fact that the injuries are the reason for the fall away, not the fact the squad choked. Like I say, any team would struggle having so many from one position out injured. But my main point was that it's not a case of Arsenal choking, simply more a case of not having the depth to cope with such an injury list.'
12:45

Chris: 'Ken, thanks for the kind words. Your post got me thinking at a tangent for some reason. I am wondering whether the last games of the season will also be influenced by players attitudes if they have been picked for their countries as part of the World Cup squad but have nothing to play for in the league (as likely is the case for Newcastle). Will they be less likely to put their body on the line? I'd say that would be natural. Newcastle aside, there are still plenty of banana skins for Chelsea, Liverpool and City. Does anyone see Arsenal's fourth place finish at risk now?' I'd say a lot depends on tomorrow's performance against Swansea. Arsenal have already bounced back from heavy defeats this season and I can certainly see them doing so again. Everton could be there to mount a serious challenge should the wheels fall off Arsenal.
12:25

The Chelsea fans are coming in strongly now, it only took a little prompting. Chris Scott says: 'Great performance from Chelsea on Saturday. Where are all the people who said Mourinho coming back a 2nd time won't work? As for the champions league, I'm pretty happy getting PSG as i think we can get past them. The Spanish teams may just have our measure this season, but, as 2012 showed you never know. I feel sorry for Moyes getting Bayern, that could get ugly! Re Brad (11.15), Chelsea were missing ramires, William and eto'o after 5 min. In stepped luiz, schurrle and Torres. It's called depth.'
12:05

Gillian Heath writes: 'Brad (11.15) - I have to agree about the sending off debacle. In this day and age you expect better. However Brad, all teams go through runs of injuries to either their best players or a long list of them. Arsenal's problem is that every season our depth of squad is found out when the injuries or suspensions mount up. That is why a concerted attempt at the PL title or the CL always falls over. No need for excuses Brad - that is FACT! It is also disappointing as a long time reader of the TC that nowadays we only have fans from the top five clubs (and Man Utd) now contributing? Perhaps the 'our club is better than yours' syndrome that was happening a while back became a little too boring for the everyday fan?'

Inter Milan president Erick Thohir has stated that Bacary Sagna is set to remain in England this summer. Thohir revealed earlier this week that Inter had held talks about signing the Arsenal full-back, who is out of contract at the end of the season.
11:14

James McFadden says he is ready to talk about extending his contract at Motherwell - if the club want to keep him. The 30-year-old's current contract expires in the summer but he insists he is in no rush to leave Fir Park.
10:54

Alan Smith has been telling Sky Sports News Radio Arsenal need to spend big this summer with a striker the priority.

10:49

Ryan Bertrand, who will see out the season on loan at Aston Villa from Premier League rivals Chelsea, plans to make a decision on his long-term future at the end of the season.
I have ambitions but I have to be realistic as well. I will sit down and consider all my options. Staying here isn't something I would rule out. I've had years of playing but since I was 17 I have been on loan, basically.
10:26

France winger Jeremy Menez admits his time at Paris Saint Germain may be up, which could reignite reported interest from Premier League duo Arsenal and Liverpool. The 26-year-old's current contract at the French champions is set to run out at the end of June, and the club's reluctance to offer a new deal has alerted some of Europe's top clubs.
9:43

Scott Brown has thanked Neil Lennon for turning his Celtic fortunes around and keeping him at Parkhead. The combative midfielder was deemed surplus to requirements by former boss Tony Mowbray and informed that he was free to move on. Brown was able to ride out the storm, though, and has become an influential figure under Lennon.

9:42

Demba Ba is readying himself for a summer switch away from Chelsea and has told RMC that discussions are being held with interested parties.
My agent has spoken to the club about a departure and he has started speaking with other clubs about a contract for next season.
9:28

There are plenty of transfer lines to be found in the morning papers:

DAILY MIRROR: Southampton will make a move for Leeds full-back Sam Byram if they lose right-back Calum Chambers in the summer.
THE SUN: Southampton want to sign Benfica striker Oscar Cardozo as a replacement for Dani Osvaldo.
DAILY MAIL: Barcelona are ready to pay Lionel Messi a world-record £336,000 a week to keep the Argentina forward at the club.

We are hearing that Lee Peltier's move to Nottingham Forest from Leeds United is back on, after it appeared he had pulled out of a switch to the City Ground to move to Bolton. He is set to arrive in Nottingham to finalise the move.
8:35

Tranmere have signed Leeds teenager Gboly Ariyibi on loan for the remainder of the season. Sky Bet League One club Tranmere included him on their bench for their match with Swindon on Tuesday, with the 19-year-old coming on just before half-time.
7:52

Former Leeds United and Liverpool winger Harry Kewell will retire from football at the end of the current A-League season. The 35-year-old, who is currently captain of Melbourne Heart in his native Australia, made over 250 Premier League appearances for the two clubs between 1995 and 2008.

Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem are keen to retain their own identity amid close ties with Chelsea. The Eredivisie outfit have had seven Blues players on loan this season - including Lucas Piazon - leading some to dub them 'Chelsea 2' or 'Chelsea B'. Vitesse's technical director Mohammed Allach has welcomed the relationship between the sides, but dismissed a suggestion the Dutch outfit could follow the route of Watford, who last season took loan signings running into double figures from other clubs controlled by their owners, the Pozzo family.
That's too much. Then, you can consider yourself a second team. That's not us. You have to keep your own identity. That's what's so beautiful in this relationship, we respect each other's identity.

Thibaut Courtois says his future lies at Atletico Madrid or Chelsea, with links to any other clubs merely speculation. It has been suggested that La Liga giants Real Madrid may look to a man currently in occupancy of the number one jersey at their cross-city rivals when the transfer window re-opens. Courtois, though, claims there is no chance of him ending up at Santiago Bernabeu.
The talk about Real Madrid is only rumours, it is not true. The one thing I have always said is that it's Atletico or Chelsea.

Paulinho admits that a lack of game time at Tottenham Hotspur since Tim Sherwood took the managerial reins has left him frustrated. The Brazil international formed part of a summer influx of big-money acquisitions at White Hart Lane in 2013, with former coach Andre Villas-Boas looking to reshape his squad. A positive start bode well for the Samba star, but he has fallen out of favour since Spurs opted for a change in the dugout.
I understand the team rotation because that's how it works here, but I am not feeling well or comfortable. I want to be present, I want to play.

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes says that forward Peter Odemwingie was well worth waiting for, having tried to sign him initially last summer before a swap deal was agreed with Cardiff City in January.

Clint Hill is prepared to be patient as he waits to discover whether he will be offered a new contract at Queens Park Rangers. Harry Redknapp's men are currently battling to bounce back to the Premier League and the experienced defender's fate could rest on the outcome of their promotion bid.

Arsene Wenger has admitted that missing out on the signing of Yaya Toure in 2003 is among his biggest regrets in football. Toure was making a name for himself with Belgian side Beveren at the start of his career when he linked up with the Gunners for a trial period and impressed Wenger, but after a delay in gaining a work permit he opted instead to join Metalurh Donetsk in Ukraine.
Let’s not forget that Yaya Toure had an agreement with us and it’s not because we did not want to sign him that he went to Ukraine.

According to reports in France, there is a chance Poland international Grzegorz Krychowiak could be on his way to the Premier League this summer. L’Equipe says that Reims rejected an offer from an unnamed English club last year for the highly-rated midfielder, but that they would be prepared to let him go at the end of this season.

Neil Lennon says he is set to meet with the Celtic board to discuss a long-term strategy as he wants the club to be able to compete in Europe:
Looking at the latter half of our Champions League campaign this year, we need a bit of extra investment in the squad in terms of quality. I want Champions League football every year and to do that we need to bring players in. I have a good core here that I'm very happy with. I just need to add a bit of quality, a few faces.

Chelsea playmaker Oscar has already been linked with a summer transfer to big-spending Paris St Germain, but he insists he is settled at Stamford Bridge:
Jose (Mourinho) has shown me I can be one of the best. The manager has given me this confidence and I have grown better and better under him. Now I just hope I can keep on getting better and win titles with him at the end of the season.

12:33

Swansea City boss Garry Monk hopes there is a summer deal to be done which will keep Jonathan de Guzman in South Wales. The Holland international will see a second loan agreement with the Swans expire at the end of the season.

I would imagine he is a player who is at the top of our list, he is a very good player and he suits how we play.

Christian Eriksen maintains that he has no regrets at having opted to link up with Tottenham last summer, with leading lights from across Europe - including Paris St Germain - having closely monitored his situation at Ajax for some time before the transfer door was finally opened.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers believes Luis Suarez's form means he could soon be considered a £100million player.
If you look at the top people in the world, the Ronaldos and the Messis, the people who have been doing it for five or six years, he would be right at that level. He is certainly on his way towards it.
11:27

Steve Sidwell is hoping to end the season with Fulham still in the Premier League and with fresh terms on the table.
I am obviously giving my all and hopefully showing the club what I am worth. I love it here.

Everton will wait until the summer before addressing the issue of loan star Romelu Lukaku's future. The Belgium international will see out the campaign at Goodison Park having joined the Toffees on a season-long agreement from Chelsea.

The Sunday Mirror reports that Turkish outfit Galatasaray have expressed an interest in Chelsea full-back Ashley Cole, who will be out of contract in the summer, but the Sun on Sunday says Real Madrid are ready to offer the England international a two-year deal.
