DISH TV BOOST FROM SES-8

Post by satlover »

The SES-8 satellite has been successfully colocated with the NSS-6 satellite at 95 degrees East, & is now fully operational. SES-8 was launched on 3 December 2013 & carries up to 33 Ku-band transponders (36 MHz equivalent).
The new SES-8 will provide huge additional satellite transponder capacity to Dish TV which already has 9 transponders on NSS-6. Each transponder can typically deliver 15 standard definition channels.
Dish TV CEO RC Venkateish had told the press that his company would add 5 transponders from SES-8. "We have got one transponder already allocated and this should cost us about $1.3 million as rental outgo per year," he had said.....
