Home comforts point to QPR win

Post by sake »

Ben Coley and Matt Brocklebank preview Saturday's bumper Premier League programme with QPR to beat Leicester rated the best bet.

Saturday's Best Premier League Bets

1pt Aston Villa to beat Burnley at 29/10

2pts QPR to beat Leicester at 11/8

1pt Newcastle to beat West Ham at 14/5
West Brom v Arsenal (1245 GMT)

The first thing I'd say about this fixture is that it's important not to get carried away with Arsenal's 2-0 victory over Dortmund on Wednesday night. In fairness, it doesn't look as though the layers have and 10/11 about an away win looks just about the right sort of price on the face of things. The Gunners finished second in the Premier League away table last term and while not so strong so far this season, they've only lost twice and one of those defeats came at Chelsea. West Brom, meanwhile, have only won once at home and their victims that day were Burnley, who at the time were bang in the middle of an 11-game winless run. The problem the Baggies have is that only Saido Berahino provides a consistent threat in attack and while his pace will trouble Per Mertesacker, Laurent Koscielny may well be ready to make his return and replace Nacho Monreal in the centre of defence. As such, Arsenal really should have the quality required to win here and get their top-four campaign back on track. In attack, Olivier Giroud marked his speedy return from injury with a fabulous goal against Manchester United and Arsene Wenger is likely to hand him a start alongside Alexis Sanchez, who continues in fine form and is unquestionably the biggest threat posed to the hosts. It'll be interesting to see what Alan Irvine does in midfield. Last week he selected Claudio Yacob for the first time this season, presumably with the intention of stemming the Chelsea flow at Stamford Bridge, but with the Argentine suspended having been sent off it's possible that role will go to Youssouf Mulumbu who has been on the fringes of the first team so far this season. Whatever the case, the Baggies will need someone other than Berahino to chip in at some point - he's the only player in their squad with more than two goals to his name this season - and until they do will continue to struggle. With that in mind we can expect Arsenal to win if producing the sort of performance they managed at Aston Villa and Sunderland, two similar tests, but they've still not beaten a side outside the bottom six and it's hard to justify backing them even at what looks a decent price.
