A lot of people have developed loyalty for certain apps and whenever someone switches or buys smartphone the first few apps they install includes MX Player. Just like Whatsapp is king of messengers, MX Player is or was best video player supporting lots of video formats earlier not supported by stock player.
All good things comes to an end and similarly an update has taken away MX Player ability to play AC3 and MLP audio i.e. DTS and Dolby audios and whenever a video with such audio formats is played sound can’t be heard. Everything was fine earlier but MX Player has just messed up by pulling support due to licensing issues.
Although built by open source community means always there’s a chance to get what you need and a fix exists to keep using MX Player with such files too without issues with help of Custom Codecs.
Custom Codec can be downloaded from links below
How to Install It?
Keep downloaded zip to your phone root folder or in downloads folder.
Go to Settings》Decoder》Custom Codec and select the downloaded codec file. If you have downloaded correct file according to your CPU MX Player will restart or else it will give an error “Can’t find custom codec for this version”. AIO Pack users no need to worry appropriate codec pack will be selected automatically for you.
Once MX Player restarts go to Help》About to check whether codecs are loaded or not.
After successfully loading just select SW decoder for audio files when playing any of AC3, MLP, DTS or Dolby videos or simply select HW+ or SW Decoder for complete Playback.
