Chairman PEMRA Mr. Parvez Rathore, Executive Member Mr. Kamal Uddin Tipu, Director General Admin. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, Director General Technical Dr. Abdul Jabbar, General Manager Licensing Mr. Wakeel Khan and other senior PEMRA officials were also present in the contract signing ceremony.
It may be mentioned that PEMRA, through print advertisement dated 30-10-2014 had solicited proposals from international consultants / firms/ companies for consultancy services in connection with DTH licensing in Pakistan. As a result, 05 consultant firms had submitted their proposals till the closing date of December 01, 2014. After evaluation as per PPRA Rules the Swiss company was approved to be hired by the Authority in its 101st meeting held on January 16, 2015.
The selected international consultant/firm will assist PEMRA in preparing eligibility criteria, license template, bidding methodology, determination of base price, recommendation on number of licenses to be issued and the duration of licenses for DTH etc.
Chairman PEMRA, Mr. Parvez Rathore termed this contract signing a major breakthrough that PEMRA has achieved. He said that PEMRA is determined for investor friendly electronic media regime to fetch maximum possible investment, employment and variety of healthy entertainment, education and information to the masses.
M/s Digital Strategy Consulting Services Switzerland, would complete its work within105 days from the date of agreement.
