Dear Friends,
I always had an issue with some weak Dishtv transponders of NSS6 satellite.
The signal was not consistent and often there was picture freezing.
My dishes are installed in the home balcony itself to facilitate alignment and testing on my TVs.
Then I attached a plastic funnel to the mouth of the feed-horn of the LNB like the conical scalar ring my C-band dish has.
There was a considerable increase in signal quality and no outage as it happened before.
Using a Metal funnel will give better results.
Also make sure the smaller edge of funnel co-incides with the white plastic part of the LNB feed-horn mouth. Try it.

Re: Improve dish signal reception with a funnel
Hi ayanahmed
Thanks for sharing with us your project
It looks very interesting
I would like to ask if this can be applied on other satellites on ku-band?
It would be nice to have an improvement in signal on ku-band for those transporters that are very difficult.

I am hopeful it will work as this method is for increasing signal quality of weak signals hitting your area.kalpikos wrote: It would be nice to have an improvement in signal on ku-band for those transporters that are very difficult.

Re: Improve dish signal reception with a funnel
I have also used it last week with my Lazer Gold KU LNB for hotbird . But I have pasted the foil paper inside the funnel with samad bond . it has increased the signal 6 % without foil paper it only increases the signal 3 to 4 %

Re: Improve dish signal reception with a funnel
Prime focus dishes with F/D ratio of 0.32 to 0.45 are used for good reception and do not need outside techniques to enhance their output. Similarly Offset dishes have higher F/D ratios like 0.6 or 0.8 and need larger diameter feeds in order to project the power into the narrower cone towards the dish.asadq1 wrote:what about weak TPs of the C band Sats?
Now when F/D ratio is found less than 0.32 it means dish is deep and its edges will have lower contribution in getting signals and only its mid portion will work and you have to fit LNB deep in the dish result a decrease in the quality of signal and outside techniques do not work here.
However when F/D ratio is higher than 0.45 meaning going toward Offset F/D ratios. Here the signal loss takes place which can be decreased and utilized by these techniques. Like funnel to increase feed horn diameter to maximize reflected reception.
If your Dish falls under this category then this increasing area receptor may work too.

Yes! can be equally applied both C and KU systems.khalid Nawaz0616 wrote:nice info is it for every ku band sat?

The walls of the given funnel seems round. If this were like a cone then the results could have been more better.Aliraza63 wrote:Here is mine
