Thanks for clarifying! It’s important to note that PTV has moved straight to digital broadcasting, not DTH. Most TVs will need a DTMB-compatible box unless they already have the tuner built-in. Comparing it with Afghanistan’s Oqaab DTH isn’t accurate, as PTV’s focus seems to be government and some Chinese channels under CPEC. Good info for anyone trying to figure out how to access PTV digitally!

It’s disappointing to see how long the DTH launch in Pakistan has been delayed. Even after so many years, PEMRA seems unable to make it happen, and now with foreign companies withdrawing, the situation looks even worse. Shahzad Sky getting a deadline is good, but after so much delay, it raises questions about whether it will actually be implemented. Pakistanis have been waiting far too long for reliable DTH services. Hopefully, this time things move forward without more excuses.

It would be better not to launch DTH at this time, as Pakistani channels are already available for free on 76E and 38E. After the launch of DTH, these channels will become paid.

In addition, 5G is expected to launch soon, and fiber internet has already spread to almost every corner of Pakistan. The world has now shifted from digital receivers to smart TVs.

Nowadays, free internet TV app, Netfly, and thousands of online channels are easily available. Therefore, instead of waiting for DTH, the current system that is already in use is more better.

DTH is an outdated technology. Sky network in UK has switched to fibre system in parallel to DTH and 80% household has sold the external dishes. FTTH is the now recommended and recognised format in whole world
